About Us-Who We Are

Providing Expert Mental Health Care

Providing Expert Mental Health Care

Associates for Counseling (ACT-Associates for Counseling and Therapy) is a group of independent, experienced clinicians dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care. Since 1995, we have been serving individuals and families from Ridgewood, Bergen County, and across New Jersey with office-based counseling services. Over the years, we have developed particular expertise in working with trauma, PTSD, and addiction, while also addressing the broad range of mental health challenges that often accompany them.

Our Experienced Team

Our Experienced Team

Our team is composed of highly trained, independent practitioners with diverse specialties and clinical backgrounds. We understand that facing trauma, addiction, and mental health struggles can feel overwhelming, isolating, and at times hopeless. Our purpose is to offer you a safe, respectful place to talk honestly about what you're experiencing and to receive the professional support you deserve. We don't see you as a diagnosis or a problem to be fixed, but as a whole person with a story, strengths, and a capacity for change.

Personalized Therapy Services

Personalized Therapy Services

At ACT, we provide personalized one-on-one and group therapy, available in both in-person and virtual formats to fit your needs and circumstances. Our services include trauma-focused treatment, education about addiction and recovery, and tailored support for co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties. We use evidence-based approaches and adapt them to your unique history, goals, and pace so that treatment feels relevant, practical, and manageable.

Our History and Focus

Our History and Focus

Our history reflects our commitment to deepening our expertise where it's most needed. ACT began offering mental health treatment services in 1995 and, in 1999, expanded to specialize in trauma, PTSD, and alcohol and substance use issues. Since then, we have continued to refine our clinical focus, training, and collaborations so that we can offer care that is both trauma-informed and recovery-oriented.

Our Mission

Above all, our mission is to help you find hope, healing, and strength through effective treatment. We know that change can be difficult and that asking for help is rarely easy. But you do not have to face these challenges alone. At Associates for Counseling, we are here to walk with you-step by step-on your path toward recovery, stability, and a more fulfilling life.
